Veronika, Kinderbetreuung (Wien)

Due to my educational studies in Vienna coming to an end I am searching for various kinds of job experience with children and teenagers. As I decided to take part in the exchange program Erasmus in Switzerland, it was clear to me that I would furthermore love to gather that sort of working experience abroad.

I am currently studying in Austria, Vienna in the sixth semester of my teaching degree with a special focus on inclusion.
While I was still at school, I began to be interested in educational activities in addition to my first babysitting jobs and used to be a tutor for students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade in English, Mathematics and German. I also started working as a coach at “Union-West-Wien”, where I ran a gymnastics programs for elementary school children and a parent-child gymnastics program. Furthermore, I gave guitar lessons to a seven-year-old girl and an eleven-year-old boy over a period of two years. After graduating from school, I worked as an intern in an orthopedic hospital and provided holiday care, where I got in contact with disabled and non-disabled children and adolescents who were admitted to the hospital. Since 2019 I have always enjoyed working for “Kinderfreunde Wien”, a special day care, where me and my team organized the vacation time of a group of adolescents and children with disabilities. Program planning, medication, knowledge about how to handle a wheelchair, care activities and eating together were part of everyday work in addition to playing with the children. As a result of the job, I obtained experience and skills in relationship work as well as designing games and excursions in such a way that the children can participate despite their handicaps, in addition to nursing activities.
In the summer of 2020, I finally took part in the summer school project to help support students with German as a second language in the corona pandemic. Also, this year I was assisting a high school student in his preparation for his final exams (Matura) in mathematics.
Currently I am working as personal assistant for a paralyzed woman assisting her in daily life including medication and care activities.

My varied professional experience in the educational field enables me to get in touch with children and adolescents with different needs. Due to my own learning difficulties in my primary and lower secondary school level, which I overcame by discipline and hard work, I can understand learning processes and present content clearly. Moreover, I enjoy creativity, different kinds of sport and making music which helps me to share equal interests with children and teenagers.
I am a highly motivated young German, English, and French speaking person with lots of energy, who cannot wait to finally start working with children again, after a long pause during Corona lockdowns.
